Coeur Joie, meaning Joyful Heart, is a radiant floral bouquet from French couturier Nina Ricci, who was known for graceful and romantic designs. From 1946, Coeur Joie was her debut fragrance, developed with Perfumer Germaine Cellier, one of the very few female perfumers of the era. The perfume is an impressionist fragrance: soft, velvety iris blooms amidst a lacy garland of gardenia, rose, and jasmine. Hyacinth adds an unexpected sparkle of verdant green brilliance. This scent was created to be a noble and cheerful note, reflecting the joy of victory, freedom, and happiness found again after the long darkness of World War II. This perfume was discontinued a long time ago, and this is a special treat. Charming heart-shaped bottle, a coveted collectors item, was a collaboration of artist Christian Berard, Marc Lalique and Riccis son Robert. There were four sizes of the frosted glass heart motif bottles, manufactured by Lalique. The older bottles have heart shaped openings in all of the bottle sizes, the newer bottles have more circular openings in the smaller bottles. The bottom is marked Nina Ricci and “Bottle made by Lalique, France”. This bottle is un-opened, but some liquid appears to have evaporated. It is sealed and unused. No cracks or damage of any kind.
