Vintage 20’s BACCARAT for Ybry Ruby Crystal LARGE Perfume Bottle DESIR du COEUR. Beautiful and incredibly rare find! “Desir du Coeur” a clear and ruby red overlay crystal perfume flacon with enamelled gilt brass stopper cover, made by Baccarat for Ybry in 1925. Parfums Ybry (Pronounced Ee-Bree) of Paris France, they also had an office in New York City. Ybry perfumes were advertised as being “the most expensive in the world”. Ybry was a luxury perfume house founded in 1925 by a man named Simon Jaroslawski also known as Simon A. Jaroslawski-Fioret and went into liquidation in 1932. His other two perfumery companies are Fioret and Mÿon. Baccarat produced the classic Ybry perfume bottle, a flattened square in colored crystal. These beautiful bottles were made by overlaying colored crystal on white crystal to create an opaque and unique luminescent quality, this same glass was also used for the short lived Myon perfume line. Each different color, was related to a particular perfume, and to a different gem. The colors range from a red to a pink, slag green to a darker green, jet black, orange to butterscotch, deep purple to lavender. Most of the time, the bottles had matching enameled and gilded metal covers. These covers were placed over the inner stoppers at an angle on one corner of the bottle. Measures 7″ not including stopper, with stopper, measures 7 1/2″ x 3 1/2 wide. Weighs 2 lbs 2 oz. Stamped at base Ybyr Paris. In excellent condition, no chips, cracks or repairs. Faint surface scratching, but nothing noticeable until searching. Truly exquisite gem to feast your eyes on in person!
