Antique Alvin Perfume Bottle with Silver Overlay. This is an Antique Glass Perfume Bottle with Silver Overlay made by Alvin Manufacturing Co. The bottle measures approximately 4 1/4 tall with the stopper (see photo #12). Both the bottle and the stopper have no chips or cracks and the silver on the bottle has not been monogrammed. There is a tiny dimple/indent on the silver overlay on the bottle (see photo #11). The perfume bottle was made by Alvin Manufacturing Co. Alvin was started in 1886 and was a competitor of. Gorham Company and Tiffiny & Co. The marks on this bottle shows FINE and then the Alvin Maker’s Mark (see photo #8). The maker’s mark on the bottle has been worn but is still visible. The style of the Alvin mark indicates that this is one of Alvin’s earlier productions which would be either late 1800’s or very early 1900’s. The perfume bottle is in excellent condition for its age. Hopefully the silver overlay on the perfume bottle will not tarnish in the time that it takes the bottle to find its new home; but if it does, the silver overlay will polish up with any high-quality silver polish cloth.
