This beautiful black (it looks red in bright sunlight) bottle was made by Baccarat for Moiret, perfume manufacturers of Paris, France for their Circe perfume released in 1924. The jet black glass bottle features the enchantress Circe on the front of the bottle with a lion and wolf. Circe was the seducer of Odysseus, the Greek hero of the Trojan War; on returning to Greece, he and his men were placed under a spell by Circe. Her palace was guarded by lions and wolves, and are pictured on the bottle’s matte black glass frieze with her. The bottle is in perfect shape as is the stopper – with a few minor fleabites on the bottom of the stem – having been around for approximately 90 years or so! The bottom is marked “Made in France”. This bottle is difficult to find, rarely coming up for sale, and would be a wonderful addition for any serious perfume collector. Dimensions: height – 3.5″ tall with stopper, width – 2.5″.
