Coty Vintage Laimant Pure Perfume In A Lalique Designed Bottle 1/3oz Sealed. Another charming offering from The master perfumer Francoise Coty. Coty produced thousands of these charming little bottles of perfume during the 1940s-60s. Mostly offered in novelty sets around Christmas, Mothering Sunday, and St. Valentines day, (hence no box,) and often containing up to 4 of Cotys most famous and popular perfumes. The original bottle was designed and produced by R. Lalique, and came in a 1oz size. I have one empty listed for sale if you are interested. These little bottles however are simply scaled-down glass copies made in Cotys own glassworks. Having said that, the stoppers still had to be hand finished, and the little labels applied by hand also. They are still very collectible, especially unopened, and do contain very wearable perfumes, and as with all my vintage perfumes this one has been stored under optimal conditions, and may be wearable, although the top notes are probably shot! So as with all vintage perfumes, there are no guarantees, so it is offered strictly as a collectible and as is. Finally, I do not smoke and I have never allowed my dogs to wear my perfumes. Coty Vintage Perfume Lilas Pourpre. From 1914 sealed and boxed. The first of four perfumes Francoise Coty presented in 1914, despite all the horrors of the WW1 raging around the world. Lilas Pourpre, a light and delicate floral bouquet. Presented here in an extremely fine crystal bottle and an unusual slip-case style box, both designed by Renee Lalique. This bottle was known as the “Invisible” bottle, as when held up to the light, the glass seems to disappear, leaving the perfume looking as if it is suspended in mid-air. Although as you can see the box is not at all in the best shape, it has done its job of protecting its valuable contents admirably. This extremely rare pure perfume has been stored, (as are all my vintage perfumes) under optimal conditions, which accounts for the beautiful pale color it still maintains after 105 years in storage!!! I will add this though; Purchasing a still-sealed, never opened bottle, of vintage perfume that has been carefully stored in its own box, is the closest we can get to what the perfumer intended for us to experience when it was first created, and don’t forget; Francoise Coty was known as “The Emperor of Perfume”, creating some astoundingly beautiful perfumes. Once a bottle of perfume is opened it begins to deteriorate, with the top notes being the first to go. I have had the pleasure of opening many really old bottles such as this one. Most are astoundingly beautiful. I do think this is one of life’s smallest, yet most exciting things to do. Our Grandmothers treasured this stuff, treating it like the precious rare commodity it actually is, (and rightly so) which is why we oh-so-spoilt modern women can still occasionally find perfume like this, in this condition. Affording us an absolutely golden opportunity. Everyone should get to open a sealed bottle of century-old perfume at least once in a lifetime!!! From Francoise Coty, comes this stunningly beautiful vintage perfume bottle, made in a soft sepia-toned glass. Aptly named the Lizzard bottle, for obvious reasons! Designed for Coty by R. Lalique around 1923-4 This bottle due to its delicacy had a very short production run, and was prone to easy breaking and chipping, consequently not too many remain intact. The stopper is truly quite amazing, and depicts in relief two courting lizards. As you can see from the photos, there is a tiny, oh so tiny chip on the rim of the bottle, and an almost imperceptibly small flea bite on the edge of the stopper. Both bottle base and matching stopper are etched with the number 209, in the French style. I have done my very best to photograph and mention any flaws I can see in an item that is almost 100 years old. However, it is possible I may have missed something tiny, I don’t think so, but in view of my being only human, I offer this strictly “As Is” Please see all photos and please ask any questions before purchasing as this is a final sale of a vintage collectible item.
