I will be listing a large collection of vintage glass. Dummy display perfume bottles that originally came from the venerable Egyptian Drug Co. In Long Beach, California. The pharmacy was owned by three generations of the same family, beginning in the 1930’s. Is a French word meaning “fake, ” but to be more precise, the bottle was made for the purposes of store display, not for sale. It is also often called a “dummy” bottle because it substitutes for a real bottle and does not contain actual perfume. The liquid is a mixture of alcohol, formaldehyde, water and coloring. Exotic vintage Guerlain Mitsouko giant glass factice dummy display perfume bottle. 1950’s to 1960’s. 13 1/2″ X 7 1/4″ X 5 deep. Weight without packaging: 6 pounds 5 oz. Glass stopper – scratches as shown. FACTICE printed on the back of the label. Does not contain liquid… There is a brownish residue inside the bottle to make it appear that there is liquid inside. Excellent condition other than issues already noted – no chips, cracks or repairs. For a recipe for making your own.
