Available today is this exceptional, vintage 1970s (circa 1976 relaunch), made in France, original and authentic, Essence Rare parfum splash in a 0.5 oz (15ml) size by Houbigant, housed in the iconic “melting icicle” flacon and accompanied by both the inner presentation box and the original outer retail box. Houbigant Paris attribution (Reference Number: 1004). Photos were taken at high magnification to best highlight overall item condition. This bottle represents the desirable second-generation Essence Rare from the 1976 revival period. The sculptural “melting icicle” flacon is one of Houbigant’s most recognizable designs and is increasingly difficult to locate with complete packaging, particularly examples retaining both boxes. Bottle glass is clean and clear with no chips or cracks observed. Label is intact and well-preserved. Both inner presentation box and outer retail box are included and show light age-appropriate wear. Overall presentation remains strong and highly display-worthy. Essence Rare introduced by Houbigant during the golden age of French perfumery as an elegant aldehydic floral composition. 1976: Relaunched with updated packaging, including the signature “melting icicle” flacon, while maintaining its classic scent structure. 2018: Modern reinterpretation released with reformulated composition and contemporary packaging. Essence Rare is classified as a light, powdery aldehydic chypre. It features top notes of bergamot, aldehydes, green accords, chamomile, and orange; middle notes of rose, lily of the valley, geranium, iris, and lily; and base notes of oakmoss, vetiver, patchouli, sandalwood, tonka bean, civet, and musk. Originally launched in 1928 and revived in 1976, this bottle represents the classic second-generation formulation valued by collectors. This is a rare collection of vintage Avon perfume and aftershave bottles from the 1970s. The bottles come in a variety of multi-colored patterns with an all-over design and a bottle shape. These bottles are perfect for collectors of Avon cologne and perfume bottles, as well as those interested in 1970s style and nostalgia.
