The items belong to another person that has asked me to list them for sale. Vintage Lalique Worth Skyscraper Perfume Bottle/Box JE Reviens 2 1/4 OZ – 5 1/2. Charles Frederick Worth was raised in Bourne. And apprenticed as a draper in. For six years at Swan & Edgars, which specialized in fine wools and silks. In 1845, at the age of twenty-one, he set out to find his fortune in. He became an assistant draper at Maison Gagelin at 83 Rue. Where he was to remain for over ten years, rising to premier commis. Among his innovations was the introduction of ready-made muslin dress samples from which patrons could choose a style; he would then match the choice to an appropriate fabric. At Gagelin’s he met Marie Vernet, a demoiselle de maison who demonstrated the features of the cloths as draped on a moving woman. They were attracted to each other very early on, but owing to their limited incomes they did not marry until May 21, 1851. Maison Gagelin showed several of Worth’s designs there and although they caused great consternation in their departure from current fashion, Gagelin was awarded a gold medal for. In 1858, Charles Worth established the custom of sewing branded labels into bespoke garments, created at Worth’s atelier in Paris, and would prepare a portfolio of dress designs which were shown on live models at the House of Worth. Clients would attend these shows, selecting a design, and specific colors and fabrics, so a duplicate garment could be tailor-made in Worth’s workshop. Worth combined his individual tailoring with a formula and standardization more characteristic of the ready-to-wear clothing industry today, which at that time was just beginning to emerge. In 1936, the House of Worth showed a first collection at 120 rue du Faubourg Saint Honoré, under the direction of a fourth generation of the Worth family, Jacques and Roger. Worth was one of the first couture houses to extend its name to luxury perfume. Jean Patou was born in 1887 in the Basque region and died in 1936 at the age of only 49. His popularity grew among a loyal, private clientele and he subsequently founded his fashion and perfume house where he presented his premiere collection in 1919. This proved to be such a great success that he opened a office in New York to fill the demand for his American clients. He also expanded his business to the Coin des Sports boutique, a shop in Deauville and a summer house of couture in Biarritz. He was the first to introduce sportswear for women, including tennis skirts, tennis shorts, knitted bathing suits, jersey cardigans and introduced complementary accessories for his clothes, putting his monogram on them where it would be seen. Another first was the first suntan lotion, women of the 1920s started sunbathing to attain the bronzed glow from the sun, and Patou introduced. Was named after an ancient city in Babylonia that was legendary for its beautiful, amber skinned beauties. Patou was among the first couturiers to include perfumes as part of a collection. He introduced his first three perfumes together in 1925. Amour Amour, Que Sais-Je? Created with the help of Paul Poiret’s perfumer, Henri Almeras. Patou also installed a cocktail bar for the gentleman while their ladies were being fitted for their haute couture. In the early years of the turn of the century, Ernest Daltroff, was beginning to get fascinated by scent and fragrance creation. 10 rue de la Paix. In the fashionable heart of Paris and renamed it Parfumerie Caron. He liked the name and decided it would be easy for his customers to pronounce in any language and remember as well as looking good on packaging. As the clientele grew, he took on a partner, Felicie Vanpouille, a young dressmaker, and Daltroff’s lover. She was made the artistic director of the company and was responsible for design and packaging. Many of the perfume flacons used by Caron were designed by Felicie, such as. But her best known design was for the bottle of. This bottle was so popular that it was being copied by other companies for their own versions of Narcisse perfumes. The firm continued to prosper and exported perfumes to the United States, South America, England. They opened a branch in 1923 in New York to satisfy their American cliente. Bottle on bottom has embossed in glass “Nina Ricci Lalique France Cristal by Lalique”. Nina Ricci was born in. A highly talented apprentice, she decided to devote herself entirely to design. She formed a partnership with her only son Robert and opened her own Haute Couture House at 20, Rue des Capucines, in. Success was swift, and just before the war the NINA RICCI firm occupied 11 floors and its workshops were filled with 450 workers. As a dress designer, Madame Ricci had a wonderful flair for highlighting the personality of her clients. Queen of fashion she still favored femininity at a time when boyish styles were being celebrated. Ricci tried her hand in perfume making with her “Nina” perfume, then introducing “Premier Jour” and “L’air Du Temps”, as well as the popular “Les Belles” line of fragrances. Bottle is 3″ in height and 2″ in width and 1 1/2 deep at largest points. The House of Guerlain is one of the oldest perfume houses in the world. It was founded in 1828 when Pierre-Francois Pascal Guerlain opened up his first perfume store on 42, Rue de Rivoli in Paris. Pierre-Francois composed and manufactured custom perfumes with the help of his two sons, Aime & Gabriel. His unique approach was to personalize perfume for a specific person, place or event. The perfume house was so successful that Guerlain decided to open a flagship store at 15, Rue de la Paix in Paris in 1840. The house was at its peak in 1853 with it’s fragrance. This store is a collection of vintage perfume bottles from the estate of Marie-Louise Fredyma, my mother who passed away in 2010 after nearly 70 years in the antique business. Marie’s perfumes were a special place in her collection of antiques and vintage items and are now offered for sale as part of her estate. This listing for a non-MLF estate item. The items belong to another person that has asked me to list them for sale. Vintage Caron Bellodgia Perfume Bottle/Box Baccarat 1 OZ – Sealed – 2/3 Full. The Cristalleries de Baccarat was established in 1764 in Lorraine France, under the patronage of Louis XV, in an effort to stem the influx of Bohemian imports and reduce unemployment in the eastern region. Baccarat has produced the finest crystal since 1816, using 30% lead crystal in their luxurious products of superior quality. Baccarat first started making perfume flacons for Houbigant, Ed Pinaud, Guerlain and Violet during the 19th century. During this time, the bottles had a plain, restrained, apothecary style look to them, in order to leave plenty of room for the perfumer’s label. The same perfume bottle was used for many different perfume companies, for instance the #10 bottle was used for both D’Orsay & Houbigant. At the turn of the century, Baccarat was making bottles for other leading companies such as Lubin, D’Orsay, Bichara and Coty. In 1911, the style of the bottles changed, and Baccarat was influenced by other glassmakers like Lalique, Maurice Depinoix and Julien Viard. Bottles were made in the most romantic styles, with hints of Art Nouveau and ethereal presentations of the highest quality. Later in the late 1920s and into the 1930s, the Art Deco movement took hold and the geometric bottles for Myon, Lentheric and Ybry are directly influenced by this. Georges Chevalier designd many of Baccarat’s Art Deco bottles. Louis Sue designed the bottle for Jean Patou’s. In the 1940s, Baccarat was again inspired by the mainstream styles and the Surrealist movement which was sweeping France.
