Ornate vintage French-style vanity set featuring gilt metal detailing and amber-toned beveled glass. Both Perfume bottles are the same length, one is just placed a little further back causing that size difference. There is also a wheeled glass casket box with intricate filigree and floral motifs. Likely early 20th century or mid-century revival in the Rococo / Louis XVI style. Beautiful display pieces for a vanity, curio cabinet, or dressing table. Condition: One perfume holder contains a broken internal glass vial resting at the bottom. The outer glass panels and metalwork are intact. Beautiful antique English Victorian era coromandel double scent or perfume casket, a gorgeous antique box with Gothic style gilt bronze straps, chest style domed top and unique porcelain plaque cartouche with romantic themed couple in a garden setting! Completely veneered in coromandel, a rare exotic wood and highly sought after for its beautiful, rich figured grain patterns. Gothic look with its gilded bronze straps across the lid, down the front & back and framing the porcelain cartouche. Inside are the original fittings and linings, nestling two nearly as beautiful cut crystal perfume or cologne decanters, possibly Baccarat though no markings. The box itself, however, is marked inside on an engraved brass plaque and reads “HUNT Ipswich” though I’ve not been able to find any information about the maker (or retailer, if that’s what Hunt was). A fabulous box, as opulent as can be! No damage to either of the bottles, both with screw-on brass caps and original interior stoppers. The stoppers are actually quite wide in diameter and the bottles could also be used for liqueur and the box a small tantalus perhaps? The box is superb with no veneer loss or repair and only a few faint hairline splits visible on the curved top. See images for all measurements. We’re easy to deal with. You are very important! Palais Royal French Kingwood Three Scent Perfume Bottle Casket 19th Century. Beautiful casket veneered with kingwood and inlaid with fruitwood and mother of pearl. Silk lined lid and the three scent bottles are exquisite with gilt ormolu mounts and hand painted lids depicting flowers. On the base is a 20th C retail label and some felt pads. One internal glass stopper is missing and the card interior on one bottle slip is missing also there are some small tears in the silk of the lid where the bottle lids touch. I note these defects for completeness. These minor defects do not in any way detract from the beauty and desirability of this item. The three scent bottles and ormolu mounts are in perfect condition. Antique French Scent Casket, Caddy, 2 Perfume, Cologne Bottle, Views of Paris. Superb Antique French Scent Casket, Caddy, 2 Perfume, Cologne Bottle, Views of Paris. A superb example of mid-1800s Grand Tour souvenirs, a gorgeous casket, box, caddy for the 2 original scent bottles that still remain inside. This is the type available in the boutiques of the famed Palais Royal, and certainly a grand treasure that’s been well treasured for more than 150 years to survive without any damage to speak of, and no damage to the thick glass flasks though you see a tiny bit of moisture loss to one of the hand painted miniatures that are mounted under glass in the caps of each of the perfume bottles. The ormolu is in brass and appears to be completely intact. If there’s a tiny spot lifted or gone, it has escaped my examination. One usually finds a little bit, a corner or something lifted, but this pair is very solid. A wonderful pair of scent bottles of good size. One note – it has both of the original stoppers from inside, but one is currently stuck and we’ll be working it gently to get it loose and then will have that rather dirty look to the interior of bottle cleared up, as well. Again, both stoppers with this set. The views you see there in the eglomise paintings include the Madeleine and a monument that existed in 19th century that I can’t just now think of the name of which always drives me crazy. Will think of it in the middle of a night soon and will annotate the listing. Very good to excellent without damage or breaks, all the brass shawl or shrouding and caps fully, unbroken and in place, and no damage chips or cracks, no hairlines to the thick glass, nor to the ormolu. Typical of the velvet caskets, there is age showing to the exterior of the Napoleon III era chest in which the perfumes rest, but no rips or tears, no loss other than some of the silk velvet nap, and only one loss to the beautiful decorative onlays which include mother of pearl and brass. You’ll see it in the backside panel of the box. A lovely old set. We’re easy to deal with. You are very important! Our fine inventory is very important.
