Offered here for sale, a pretty figural perfume bottle (empty) of Souvenir d’un Soir, made by Mary Chess introduced in 1956. The bottle represents the fountain in front of the Plaza Hotel at Fifth Ave and 59th Street in New York City. This is the larger version, measuring approximately 4.5″ x 4.5″. Vintage Large Unopened SOYONS DISCRETS French Commercial Perfume Bottle. This beautiful thick glass perfume bottle is marked on the base as shown bottle made in France. It measures about 7 1/4 high to the top of the half moon shaped stopper. The bottle is almost full and has the original paper label in place. The perfume was made by the French company Lorenzy Palanca in the 1920s. I believe this bottle is rare I couldnt find another like it anywhere on the internet. The perfume house of Jovoy was founded by Blanche Arvoy, who would go on to establish the house of Corday in 1924. While the Jovoy fragrances – of which there were only four – never became as popular as those of Corday, Mrs. Arvoy was awarded for her novel perfume presentations and conceptual bottle designs. Was released in 1924. The bottle is 4 1/4 tall. There is a shallow chip behind the dog’s right ear. There is a chip on the outside of the bottle’s neck and one on its inside. The bow is not original. This has always been one of our favorite commercial perfume bottles but unfortunately, the bottle is not perfect. Please examine the photo details, as there is no label, no tassel or box. There are some flea bites along the stopper’s bottom edge and two small (1/8) chips at the base of the bottle. There is also a minor scratch mark on one gold panel (see photo 1). The number “500” is etched on the bottom of the bottle but I do not see a corresponding number on the bottom of the stopper although it pairs perfectly. During the mid-late 1920’s pearl-like bottles were all the rage in commercial perfume presentation, with houses such as Volnay, Parfums de Marcy, Isabey, Ota, and Pleville all releasing their own nacreous glass creations. But, the apotheosis of pearlescent presentations was released by Delettrez – a perfume and cosmetic company founded in 1835 and known as “The Perfumers of the High Society” – in 1923, for an aptly titled Parfum XXIII. That presentation – a hand-blown’necklace’ of graduated glass flasks – is being offered in this listing. It was created by Paul Heymann, and also used by Parfums de Marcy in 1927, where it was called “Le Collier Miraculeux” or The Miraculous Necklace. The box is 11 1/4 long. One of the smallest bottles is missing its cork. The other smallest bottle is corked but not sealed. Every other bottle, besides the three just mentioned, is corked and sealed, though one is missing its label (pictured). The seals are made of kid-leather. There are still a few drops of liquid perfume in the sealed bottles, an extreme rarity, though it appears to be highly concentrated from evaporation. Some of the bottles have flea-bites, fine scratches, and/or marks of discoloration on them, but that is the extent of the damage. The box is worn as pictured.
