Exceedingly rare hard to find Guerlain Jicky by Guerlain. The bottle is almost full, the liquid has suffered only a small amount of evaporation. This is truly a collector’s dream! Bottom marked “Guerlain” “Bottle made in France” “IP”. Created by Aimé Guerlain in 1889, Jicky was the world’s first modern perfume. It was completely unisex and incorporated both natural ingredients and the newly discovered synthetics: coumarin and vanillin. As a fougere, it’s main accord is a contrast of astringent lavender, bright citrus, and dusty oakmoss. Jicky also famously contains an inordinate amount of civet. Civet is a glandular secretion obtained from the African civet cat. Its scent is fecal when concentrated; but sweet when dilute. Jicky became the fragrance worn by dandies and was reportedly a favorite of a young Sean Connery. The original flacon takes the shape of a 19th Century pharmacy jar, while the quadrilobe stopper resembles a champagne cork.

Welcome to Marie’s Vintage Perfumes. This store is a collection of vintage perfume bottles from the estate of Marie-Louise Fredyma, my mother who passed away in 2010 after nearly 70 years in the antique business. Marie’s perfumes were a special place in her collection of antiques and vintage items and are now offered for sale as part of her estate. This listing for a non-MLF estate item. The items belong to another person that has asked me to list them for sale. Vintage Guerlain Baccarat Signed Perfume Bottle – Jicky Quadrilobe – 1 OZ – 4. Bottle is 4″ in height and 2 1 /2″ in width and 1 1/2 deep at largest points. Bottle on base is marked in glass with acid mark “Guerlain France Baccarat” France. Stopper is also etched numbers. The House of Guerlain is one of the oldest perfume houses in the world. It was founded in 1828 when Pierre-Francois Pascal Guerlain opened up his first perfume store on 42, Rue de Rivoli in Paris. Pierre-Francois composed and manufactured custom perfumes with the help of his two sons, Aime & Gabriel. His unique approach was to personalize perfume for a specific person, place or event. Honore de Balzac commisioned his own eau de toilette during the writing of. La Sylphide, le Journal des Elegances. Scented each issue with a different fragrance by Guerlain. Guerlain catered to the high society of Paris, and obtained a very loyal following. The perfume house was so successful that Guerlain decided to open a flagship store at 15, Rue de la Paix in Paris in 1840. The house was at its peak in 1853 with it’s fragrance. Eau de Cologne Imperiale. This perfume gained Guerlain the prestigious title of His Majesty’s Official Perfumer of France. This in turn led him to create perfumes for other royals such as Queen Victoria of England, Empress Sissi of Austria and Queen Isabella of Spain as well as other crowned heads of royalty. Pierre-Francois passed away in 1854 and his sons inherited the perfume house. Aime became the master perfumer, a tradition that would be upheld for the next master perfumer in lineage. Gabriel managed and further expanded the house. Aime, created several fragrances for the perfume house, these include. Fleur d’Italie, Rococo. Eau de Cologne de Coq. And his greatest creation. In 1914, Guerlain moved to 68, Champs-Elysees Paris. The business was then handed down to Gabriel’s sons, Jacques & Pierre Guerlain. Jacques became the third master perfumer and created many fragrances in his lifetime. Eau de Coq, L’Heure Bleu, Apres L’Ondee, Shalimar, Vol de Nuit, Ode. Jacques grandson, Jean-Paul Guerlain is the fourth generation master perfumer and has authored several perfumes and men’s colognes including. Vetiver, Habit Rouge, Samsara, Nahema, Jardins de Bagatelle. Bottle in very good condition for item made pre 1940. Bottle has no cracks, scratches, or chips. Some wear around neck. Ultra rare & vintage Guerlain Jicky Parfum Extract 125 ml 4.2 oz Vintage Bottle 85% Full! The bottle measures 4 5/16″ tall x 3 1/4″ wide x 1 13/16 deep and the parfum has aged into a beautiful peach color. The bottom of the bottle is acid etched and says, “BOTTLE MADE IN FRANCE GUERLAIN PARIS” and then there is a sticker over the etching that says, 125ml. The bottle is still in very nice shape, but it has been used and there are a few very minor dings here and there. We’ve included pictures of the blemishes and those pictures include pointing out the blemish using the tip of an X-Acto knife. If you are unaware, the tip of an X-Acto knife is as small as a tip of a fabric needle. The blemishes include the following. A bump ding on the body as shown in the 10th picture. There are two flea bites on the stopper as shown (one of the blemishes is shown twice). There are a few scratches on the bottom (as expected) and on the body here and there. The paper label has a dent above the “AI” in GUERLAIN. There are also a few minor scratches on the label as well. This bottle has been in refrigerated and in the dark for a long, long time, so the parfum smells OUTSTANDING. This is such a beautiful scent! There is a batch number on the bottom of 3DB4. According to the Check Fresh website, that means that this bottle was manufactured in April 2013 and we’ve included a picture from that site with the information. The owner of this bottle believes she’s had this bottle for more than 10 years. Batch numbers repeat every 10 years, so we are unsure of the exact age of this bottle if you know, please tell us! The bottle shape is called, “Flacon Bouchon Quadrilobe (Quatrefoil Stopper)” and was made from c1908-Present. Per the Raiders of the Lost Scent website, the Flacon quadrilobe was made by various manufacturers such as Baccarat, Pochet et du Courval and Cristalleries de Nancy to hold extracts for various perfumes. Some later bottles hold eaux de toilette or eaux de parfum. Created in 1908 for the fragrance Rue de la Paix and has been used since as the house bottle. The labels known as etiquette laurier because of the laurel leaf borders, except for the perfume Coque DOr, Dawamesk, Liu and Fleur de Feu which show a more’modernist’ design. This bottle is part of a huge collection (>2,000 bottles) that have been stored in bubble wrap and boxes in an indoor closet away from heat and light for years and years.
