This EXTREMELY RARE vintage 1942 Limited Edition LANCOME PERFUME BOTTLE came with Cuir perfume. In fact, it is filled to the top with old perfume. I DO NOT RECOMMEND USING THE PERFUME. It may be fine, but many factors affect the scent of perfume over time. This unique flacon was designed by Georges Delhomme and made by Verrières de la Bresle, a company in the Normandy area of France known for its luxury perfume bottles, sincere works of art. The bottle, known as L’Ange Souffleur, was used for a Christmas presentation called La Nativite from 1942 to 1948, holding various scents, including Fleches and Kypre. Its mostly rectangular shape is square in the front, with an indented rim, and rounded in the back. It is made of colorless frosted glass, although the filled part of the flacon appears dark brown to black, because that is the color of the old perfume that is showing through. The front has a relief of a gilded angel blowing air. Golden rays extend from the bottom of the angel’s head from the topper across the full bottom of the bottle. The rays match up amazingly well. There is an elegant curvature under the glass topper. When removed, revealed is a small glass stopper. I do not know if it is stuck, because I do not want to take it off and expose the perfume. The bottle, including the topper, is approximately 4″ tall x2.5″ wide x1.25 thick. Bottom gold foil label says: CUIR LANCOME Paris France MIN. DISTRIBUTED BY LANCOME SALES INC On either side of the bottle are significant remnants of the gold foil sealing labels… A large “L” inside a circle. Condition: Excellent vintage condition. On the bottle or the topper, I cannot find and chips or “chippiness”. There is a minuscule chip in the top of the small stopper. The gold paint is brilliantly intact. You may find very slight scuffs, but truly no real scratches. Overall clean, if perhaps a bit discolored with age. The camera has picked up dust in the spaces between the rays of sun, but I don’t want to get aggressive cleaning these. THANK YOU FOR YOUR UNDERSTANDING.
