STUNNING VINTAGE LARGE ANDREW SHEA ART GLASS CASED PAPERWEIGHT PERFUME BOTTLE. This is a very large heavy paperweight style blown perfume bottle with stopper. It is a beautiful piece of contemporary American hand-made studio art glass created by glass artist Andrew Shea, whose studio is in Minneapolis, Minnesota. This is an extremely high-quality piece of art glass. It is a cased piece with several layers of glass and it appears to me there are at least three layers of glass. I can distinctly see three different colors of glass; cobalt blue, ruby red and a pale yellowish amber see the photos. FYI – The first three photos of this piece are taken with bright light from behind (backlit), the reminder taken in natural light with no backlighting. After the artist skillfully created the colored glass layers to this beautiful perfume, he then gave the glass an etched or frosted (acid or sand blasted both the bottle and the stopper) finish and then ground and polished both the bottle (seven places) and the stopper (one place) to reveal the inner colors. A very unique technique. It is just stunningly beautiful!! This piece has been in my personal collection since 2012, when I bought it new from Andrew at the Ann Arbor Street Fair. Please note: the faint spots you may see in the photos are from my camera and are not on the glass. The perfume is artist ground and polished on the underside so it sits flat and level. It is also signed on the bottom simply Andrew Shea. There are four little piece of protective plastic film on the bottom (presumably to protect the bottom from scratches as well as the surface the bottle sits on) placed there by the artist which could be removed if desired. This is a fine example of Andrews work and gorgeous as you can see from the photos! I do my best to describe all items as accurately as possible and to the best of my ability. Some of my photos may be somewhat lighter or darker than actual to better show detail or color. However, do not hesitate to contact me with any questions, comments, or with requests for additional pictures. Our store has many unique and interesting items in several different categories from 35 years of our dealing and collecting antiques and collectables. This piece dates to circa 2012. It is in pristine original condition. Please look closely at the photos as they are an important part of my description of this item. There no chips, flea bites, cracks, scratches, hairlines or repairs. There has never been any liquid inside the bottle, so no cloudiness to the glass. I will only mention one extremely tiny white stone in the glass, this is not damage but rather a minor blemish from the making of the glass this can be seen in several of the photos as a tiny white spec near the upper shoulder of the perfume bottle. Please keep in mind these photos can be blown up at least 8X-10X times normal, so anything you see will look 8X-10X times larger in the photos than it really is. Please note: if you see a dark spot in the photos it is from my camera and is not a mark on the piece. It will be either just to the right of center towards the bottom or slightly above center on the right side of the photo. About 3.625 (9.2 cm) left to right by about 2 (5.1 cm) front to back and sits about 7.5 (19.1 cm) off the table at the top of the stopper. About 2 pounds 4.75 ounces (1.042 kilograms). On heavier items I will also offer a less expensive option, if available.
