A 7 1/2 inch tall (to top of stopper) beautiful BLACK AMETHYST colored hexagon (six 6 sided shaped) antique perfume bottle. It is a tall tall TOWER SHAPED bottle made up of FROSTED or SATIN GLASS bottle that is somewhat rough to the touch. Bottle comes with ORIGINAL frosted satin-glass STOPPER , that has a cork gasket that not only holds the stopper perfectly in place but also allow the liquid contents to be dispensed one drop at a time. It is an ORIGINAL ANTIQUE M old B lown bottle, dating well over one century old, ca. C ondition : Bottle is in NICE STURDY condition. It has one small ding or’fish eye’ in the glass, about the size of a BB, and other than that it has NO cracks, chips, dings, damage, etc. The stopper is in beautiful condition, it has a rough bottom from when it was snapped out of the snap mold during the manufacturing process. NOTE that this hexagon shaped bottle has six incised/debossed pictures of Nymphs decorating each of its six sides. This bottle was most likely a Victorian-era dresser bottle, a bottle that was filled with perfume from a large bulk sized commercial perfume bottle, then set out on a woman’s dresser for decoration and use. As mentioned, it was made of frosted or satin glass, an expensive technique to give a vessel an ornate sheen to it. Then too there is the black amethyst or dark purple color. This antique bottle has been exposed to a light source to enrich the purple color that would naturally occur if exposed to the ultra violet rays of the sun. T he purple color really accentuates the debossed Nymphs so that you can make them out in great detail! With a clear glass object, you are looking through it, and the embossing on the glass reflect what ever patterns and colors are in the background. Yet with this deep purple color, you are looking, not through the clear glass embossing but right AT the embossing, which accentuates it and makes every detail stand out / jump right out at you. With few exceptions, only clear glass from before 1915 will turn sun-colored-amethyst. Not only does this deep purple/amethyst color make it a great looking bottle, but it also authenticates it as being truly antique!
