19th Century Silver & Cut Glass Scent Bottles by Thomas Diller London 1840. Antique Silver Topped Vanity Bottles, by Thomas Diller of London. Rectangular Cut Glass bottle with a fluted design and star base, Silver Screw domed lid with Engine Turned design and Crested cartouche, the bottle has its original glass stoppers. Hallmarked London, with the date letter E for 1840 and the Thomas Diller makers mark. Silver polishes to a good sheen showing slight oxidation & cleaner buildup along with light age related surface scratching. Glass is clear & fog free with light noticeable wear including surface scratching and tiny nibbles. The lid and stopper are secure, fit and work well. As above, however one of the base corners has a 2 x 2.5 triangular chip, which unfortunately reaches the inner cavity and therefore it is no longer watertight. There are other lesser chips and nibbles. Height 12 x Width 7.5 x Depth 6.35 cm. Lid: 3 x 4.5 x 4.5 cm. Silver weight excluding the screw mount: 57.46g. Combined weight: 1.150Kg.
