Vintage Souvenir Perfume Bottle Circa 1885, w Cased Picture of Notre-Dame Paris. It has a cased picture of Notre-Dame Paris in the lid. Notre-Dame is a very old Catholic Cathedral in Paris, France that is dedicated to the Virgin Mary. The web spoke to the fact that this building is the finest example of French Gothic architecture. Considering the age of this perfume bottle its condition is not bad. The bottle is a square glass bottle, with a brass neck that is very decorative with prongs. The bottle top is attached by a hinge to the neck portion. The top of the lid has the cased glass picture of Norte-Dame in the Paris, France background. There is some MOP in some of the glass windows. There is a small glass stopper in the bottle neck, I don’t know if it is original, or if it has been replaced over the years, but it does appear to be stuck. I cannot move it. The lid closes with a nice snap, when you push it closed. The underside of the bottle is polished, but now has a number of scratches on it due to its age. In looking closely at the underside, it has had some glass repair made to the right and particularly the left side. There is also a teeny pinprick in the upper right-hand corner of the underside. The left side of the underside feels smooth, but when you look closely, the repair went over the edge, and there appears to still be a small interior nick. I don’t think this will hurt or ruin the bottle, but I want to make the new owner aware of this condition. The height of the bottle is: about 2 1/8 inches. SUPER VINTAGE GANDELMAN STUDIO RED CASED ART GLASS PAPERWEIGHT PERFUME SIGNED. A beautiful piece of contemporary American hand-made studio art glass in the form of a gorgeous paperweight style perfume bottle and stopper. It was hand-made by glass artist Roger Gandelman, whose studio, West Rock Art Glass, is in Branford Connecticut. From his website, he appears to specialize mostly in perfume bottles. This perfume bottle is a very heavy “paperweight style” piece and has been part of my personal collection since the year 2009. The piece in my photos is the actual piece you will receive. Please be sure to read the “Age and Condition” and “Approximate Dimensions” paragraphs below. It features two large purple & yellow “pansy-like” flower blossoms, along with multiple smaller pink flower blossoms and green colored glass “vines” within the crystal or clear colored glass that “connects” everything together. The beauty of this piece is enhanced by the fact that this is “cased” glass with a layer of red or cranberry colored glass inside the crystal or clear colored glass exterior. Everything is further enhanced by the fact that the artist has ground and polished flat areas over the flower blossoms on two opposite sides of the perfume bottle. This is all very skillfully done in the “lampwork” technique, which is working colored glass “canes” into the inside of the piece while the glass is in a near molten state. This takes great skill and this artist is definitely a master. The unpolished areas of the bottle have been given what I would describe as a “marigold” colored iridized or “carnival glass finish”. The base of the perfume bottle is scratch signed on the underside with what appears to me to read: “Gandelman” and “’09”. I do my best to describe all items as accurately as possible and to the best of my ability. Some of my photos may be somewhat lighter or darker than actual to better show detail or color. However, do not hesitate to contact me with any questions, comments, or with requests for additional pictures. Our store has many unique and interesting items in several different categories from 35 years of our dealing and collecting antiques and collectables. It is in pristine mint original condition. Please look closely at the photos as they are an important part of my description of this item. There are no chips, flea bites, cracks, hairlines or repairs and no signs of use. Basically, it looks like new. Please keep in mind these photos can be blown up at least 8X-10X times normal, so anything you see will look 8X-10X times larger than it really is. Please note: if you see a dark spot in the photos it is from my camera and is not a mark on the piece. It will be either just to the right of center towards the bottom or slightly above center on the right side of the photo. It is about 2.75″ (7 cm) left to right across the widest point by about 2″ (5.1 cm) front to back across the two polished sides and stands about 5 (12.7 cm) tall at the top of the stopper. 625 ounce (470 grams).
