Vintage Souvenir Perfume Bottle Circa 1885, w Cased Picture of Notre-Dame Paris. It has a cased picture of Notre-Dame Paris in the lid. Notre-Dame is a very old Catholic Cathedral in Paris, France that is dedicated to the Virgin Mary. The web spoke to the fact that this building is the finest example of French Gothic architecture. Considering the age of this perfume bottle its condition is not bad. The bottle is a square glass bottle, with a brass neck that is very decorative with prongs. The bottle top is attached by a hinge to the neck portion. The top of the lid has the cased glass picture of Norte-Dame in the Paris, France background. There is some MOP in some of the glass windows. There is a small glass stopper in the bottle neck, I don’t know if it is original, or if it has been replaced over the years, but it does appear to be stuck. I cannot move it. The lid closes with a nice snap, when you push it closed. The underside of the bottle is polished, but now has a number of scratches on it due to its age. In looking closely at the underside, it has had some glass repair made to the right and particularly the left side. There is also a teeny pinprick in the upper right-hand corner of the underside. The left side of the underside feels smooth, but when you look closely, the repair went over the edge, and there appears to still be a small interior nick. I don’t think this will hurt or ruin the bottle, but I want to make the new owner aware of this condition. The height of the bottle is: about 2 1/8 inches. One of the finest condition of these we’ve seen in ages, with the high gilded alloy ormolu still bright, the mirror still very nice (deep beveled glass) and both perfume or scent bottles intact with their original stoppers – mother of pearl shell scalloped to perfection and shimmering a rainbow of pearlescent appeal. These trinkets are mid-Victorian, or in France, from the Napoleon III era c. The measurements can be found on photos. Very good to excellent for age and type, this is an exceptionally fine scent caddy, trinket stand. The natural mother of pearl shell retains its fine pearlescent shimmer of color, ranging pinks to green (best), and there are no breaks, cracks, chips. An unusual scalloped upper rim adds appeal. Mirror is remarkably unscathed by time, the old original with deep heavy beveled glass – original. Scent bottles are 1 diameters and fit perfectly, as do their original faceted stoppers. With a superb mother of pearl-backed painting of “Hotel du Invalides” (Paris, now with tomb of Napoleon), this larger sized scent bottle is in remarkably fine condition for age. Dating early 1800s to perhaps 1860s, it still has its working cork, and the mirror backing is bright and reflective. A little secondary souvenir view in cap in the form of a tiny Stanhope (clear frosted glass with a tiny architectural image also on it, viewed a little like through a tiny telescope or magnifying glass). Very good to excellent condition for age and type. Set there in the crown of the cork top is a little Stanhope, but the image within is slightly dislodged so I can’t tell you what it is. I can see it floating, but it is the single’flaw’ notable, really. No even a nip or chip to that thick beveled glass on either side. The painting is perfectly preserved, as well. Full measurements are noted on our photos. There are 2 sizes of this chatelaine’palm’ scent, and this is the largest of all. We’re easy to deal with. You are very important! The bottle represents the fountain in front of the Plaza Hotel at Fifth Ave and 59th Street in New York City. This is the larger version, measuring approximately 4.5″ x 4.5″. Vintage Mary Chess “Souvenir d’Un Soir” Perfume Bottle w/Plaza Figural Stopper. This estate find will come to you exacty as we found it — still with some dried residue of the perfume inside the bottom of the bottle. This lovely bottle is frosted glass, 3 1/2 tall. It was designed to replicate a fountain at the Plaza Hotel in New York. Marked on the bottom, both in the glass and also the foil label remains. There is some frayed string near the base of the figure that used to hold a little folded tag. No chips or cracks noted; it does need to be cleaned. We’ll do our best to accomodate you, but may have to choose not to. This is not negotiable. Most of our items come from estates. Our items are almost always pre-owned.
